Barrow Raiders gave Super League Huddersfield Giants a real scare in the sixth round of the Betfred Challenge Cup, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a battling 30-16 defeat.

In front of over 3,000 supporters at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium, the Raiders went toe-to-toe with their Super League opposition for large spells, before an Innes Senior try two minutes from time added gloss to the Giants’ margin of victory.

Barrow got to within one converted score three times thanks to two tries from Tee Ritson and one for Jarrad Stack.

First half tries for Luke Yates, Ricky Leutele and Sebastine Ikahihifo had given the Giants an 18-6 interval lead, but Paul Crarey’s side produced a fantastic display to ensure they remained in the contest until the very end.
